Trevor opened the meeting by welcoming new
members Niki Fagan and Colin Millar to the club.
He then went on to read the following statement:
Statement
by Chairman
I am sure that you aware that in the past week
ACCCNI has had a rather serious accusation
made against it by one of its members. The
member concerned took the decision to make the
complaint very publicly throughout the club
without first attempting to talk to me and has accused
ACCCNI of discriminating against a disabled
member. The member has also made claims that
this matter has been discussed at previous
meetings, with no action having been taken. I have
made my reply to that member.
With the exception of the February meet I have
been present at all meetings, and this is the first
time this subject has been raised. ACCCNI takes
accusations of this nature very seriously so therefore
for the benefit of the minutes and the other
members within our club I would like to make ACCCNI policy
very clear on this matter.
With reference to the Disabled
Anti-discrimination Act. I have read this act and am aware that
the
Act applies to all private clubs with 25 or more
subscribing members. At this present time ACCCNI has
less than 25 subscribing members and has
therefore no responsibility to comply with this Act by law.
The Act also states that any business that
accepts members of the public through its doors is to
comply with the Act.
Even though ACCCNI does not have to comply by law
with this Act we are pleased to continue to
comply with it’s terms as far as is reasonably
possible. ACCCNI shows no prejudice towards any member
and does not seek to discriminate against any
individual. ACCCNI takes pride in accommodating its
subscribing members and welcomes all new members.
As I am sure you are aware our meetings used to
be held in the Ivanhoe for the 6 winter months,
this in itself created difficulty with members
living in more rural locations and was thought to give
preference
to those living in Belfast. With the interests
of treating all it’s members equally ACCCNI decided that winter
meetings would be held in different locations
every month. Members are always welcome to suggest a venue
for any of the winter meetings and we are always
looking for new places to meet.
To remind all members again they are always
welcome to provide suggestions and queries at any of the
meetings, and if unable to attend in person, have
that matter added to the Agenda for discussion,
through the Secretary, via email/telephone.
Contact details for all Committee members are on the
web site and listed at the bottom of all minutes.

Members Suggestions & Queries:
Trevor
suggested that to ease the website workload that a formal Club
Photographer be appointed.
This was
discussed at length and, as he has a certain flair for
photography, it was suggested that
Martin Barr
should be appointed. Martin was pleased to accept. For future
reference,
anyone
wishing to have their photos uploaded to the website should send
them to
Martin using
the
acccni@hotmail.co.uk
email address.
